Tim Schulz
CEO & Co-founder
Tim is a pioneer in offensive security assessments who founded Verizon's AI red team. With deep expertise in cybersecurity, he has successfully scaled cyber research to multi-million dollar funding initiatives.
Prior to Starseer, Tim served as VP of Research & Engineering at Scythe, where he led teams developing cutting-edge security technologies. His career spans roles at Verizon, Scythe, and MITRE, bringing diverse perspectives on security challenges in complex systems.
Carl Hurd
CTO & Co-founder
Carl is a distinguished vulnerability researcher and engineering leader who discovered over 100 CVEs and led research teams at Cisco Talos. His expertise lies in deconstructing black-box systems and turning complex technical challenges into elegant solutions.
Before co-founding Starseer, Carl led engineering teams at Red Balloon Security, developing innovative approaches to secure embedded systems. His background combines deep technical knowledge with practical engineering leadership, making him uniquely qualified to lead Starseer's technical vision.

From Cybersecurity to AI Interpretability
Our story begins with Tim's experience building the AI Red team at a major telecom company after years of red-teaming emerging technologies. The challenge of understanding AI internals sparked the idea for Starseer.
Identifying the Gap
We discovered that while there are many tools for building and monitoring AI, there's a significant gap in tools that help understand the internals of models in an accessible way. Most existing solutions require PhD-level expertise.
